As the European influence started to spread all over the peninsula with their own political strategy. While the local Malay sultanates continued on their own affairs. Johor became the new Muslim trading centre which replaced by Perak by some time later. This had make immigrants from Sumatra and Celebes started to enter the peninsula in large numbers. In the late 1860's, there number of Malay kingdom had started to fight for the throne of Perak, which had make the Britain to take a step to ensure its influence in the peninsula were spreaded. Involvemnt of the Britain in this issue, caused Malas to sign an peace agreement, the Pangkor Agreement 1874.
